Module 1: Fundamentals of PLS-SEM 4.0: Build, Analyse & Interpret Your First Model

Essential training to understand and apply SmartPLS 4 for beginner-level structural equation modelling

Description
This one-day introductory course provides a comprehensive foundation in Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) using SmartPLS 4. Participants will learn to construct simple models, perform measurement and structural analyses, and interpret results for research and publication purposes. The course combines theory with hands-on exercises using real datasets, preparing participants for independent basic analysis and progression to advanced techniques.

Topics Covered (Basic)
  • Introduction to SEM and PLS-SEM: Concepts, benefits, and applications
  • Understanding reflective vs formative constructs
  • Building a measurement model (reliability & validity: Cronbach’s Alpha, CR, AVE, HTMT)
  • Structural model basics: path coefficients, R², f², Q²
  • Bootstrapping and hypothesis testing (direct relationships)
  • Introduction to mediation and moderation (basic concept only)
  • Hands-on: Building and analysing your first PLS-SEM model in SmartPLS 4
  • Best practices in reporting basic PLS-SEM results (thesis/article format)

Module 2: Mastering Advanced PLS-SEM 4.0 Models: Higher-Order, Mediation & Moderation Analysis
Advance your research with complex modelling techniques, higher-order constructs, and robust mediation-moderation analysis in SmartPLS 4

Description
This one-day advanced workshop equips participants with the skills to develop and analyse complex PLS-SEM models using SmartPLS 4. The course explores higher-order constructs, advanced mediation and moderation techniques. Participants will also learn to apply predictive analytics with PLSpredict and address reporting standards (Hair et al., 2024). Through hands-on sessions, this workshop prepares researchers to produce rigorous, journal-ready results for high-impact academic publications and professional projects.

Topics Covered (Advanced)
  • Higher-Order Constructs (HOC): Building and validating 2nd order models
  • Mediation Analysis:
  • Moderation & Interaction Effects: Two-way moderation and plotting interactions
  • Predictive Analytics with PLSpredict
  • Reporting Standards (Hair et al., 2024): Writing journal/thesis-ready results
  • Hands on: Integrating HOC, mediation, moderation, and prediction in one model

About Speaker

Associate Professor Dr. Siti Sara Ibrahim is a senior lecturer at Universiti Teknologi MARA, Negeri Sembilan. She holds a PhD in Business Administration from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Malaysia and has been awarded the Graduate-on-time (GOT), Research Excellence Award and Doctoral Excellence Award of Chancellor. She started her career at Financial Institution in 2007 before joining UiTM in year 2011 and expanding her expertise in business management, marketing, entrepreneurship, training and development, human resources, organisational and consumer behaviour, and many other areas. As a lecturer, other than teaching, she is also involved in many research projects, either as research head or research team member with government institutions, private companies as well as international organisations. Related to her research work, she is also actively engaged as a journal and conference reviewer, jury and editor in several journals. As her deep interest was in research, innovation and community programmes, she is actively joining conferences, invention & innovation (IID) competitions as well as being a volunteer at a few Non-Profit Organizations (NGOs) in Malaysia, for example; Academy Rohingya Malaysia, Altrusitik Malaysia, Muslim Volunteer Malaysia and MERCY Malaysia. Dr. Siti Sara has won many remarkable awards including UiTM Anugerah Akademik Harapan, UiTM Negeri Sembilan academic award, leadership award, researcher award, best presenter award, as well as a special award, commercialization award, diamond, gold and other several awards in IID competition she attended.
