Join the Thesis in 5 Minutes (T5M) competition as presenters from across all academic disciplines. This is a great opportunity to effectively explain your research in language appropriate to a non-specialist audience. Describe your thesis research in five minutes using only two PowerPoint slides. The presentation must be understandable to a general audience- not just to specialists in the student’s area of research.
The presentations are evaluated by a panel of judges, and cash prizes will be awarded to diamond winners. Gold, Silver and Bronze awaiting for other winners. Presentations from all academic areas are judged together. This reinforces the objective that the presentations must communicate effectively to a general audience.
Any postgraduate students who are conducting a thesis (or dissertation) from any university are eligible to participate. Students must bring their student identification card at the registration counter for verification.
Students who had completed the study maximum in 2 year are allowed to join. They must bring evidence of completion study from university senate to verify the status.
Presentation must describe the student’s own research (no literature reviews).
We looking for contestants who can speak about an independent research project that they are currently pursuing in their programs. For Ph.D. candidates, this could mean that you have completed preliminary or comprehensive exams and are in your dissertation phase or had defended your thesis proposal.. For master’s candidates, this means that you are in your second year of your program and have made significant progress on your research thesis. More successful presenters have done enough research that they can speak about the goals of their project to a broad audience as well as explain the potential significance and/or applications of their work.
