Join the Thesis in 5 Minutes (T5M) Series 2/2023 competition as presenters from across all academic disciplines. This is a great opportunity to effectively explain your research in language appropriate to a non-specialist audience. Describe your thesis research in five minutes by using a video. The presentation must be understandable to a general audience, not just to specialists in the student’s area of research.

Eligibility
  • Any postgraduate students who are conducting a thesis (or dissertation) and degree students (FYP) from any university are eligible to participate. Students must attach their student identification card to the registration form for verification. 
  • Students who had completed the study maximum in 2 years are allowed to join. They must submit evidence of completion study from the university senate to verify the status. 
  • The minimum number of member is 1 student (the leader) & 1 supervisor. The maximum member is four (including the leader & supervisor). RM50/USD12 is charged for one additional person. Allowed up to 6 members per team only.
  • The presentation must describe the student’s research (without literature reviews). ​​
VIDEO GUIDELINE
  1. Video length must not exceed 5 minutes. 
  2. Please avoid using the Canva, Powtoon, PowerPoint presentation or any other similar video making.
  3. The video must be presented by you with a clear self-image (half body). However, additional text and pictures appearance along the presentation is allowed (Self image is compulsory. Please do not focus on texts and graphic while the presenter image is just appear at the corner of the video. Mark reduction may apply if the video did not meet the format given).
  4. Please make sure that the video is:
    1. Clear sound and lighting
    2. Minimum background noise
    3. Start the video with T5M introduction video. You may download it here.
  5. Please submit the Google Drive video link here. The steps below might help you if you are not familiar with G. Drive sharing. 
    1. Log in to Google Drive.
    2. Upload the video
    3. Right-click > Get link > Anyone with the link can view > copy link. 
  6. Please note that we will upload the video on T5M YouTube channel. By participating in this competition, consent is given to the organiser to publish it online.
  7. The juries will be given the YouTube link to evaluate.
  8. You may participate in the YouTube Lucky Draw Contest. Please refer the contest poster at the bottom of the site.
